The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is essential to maintaining high standards in food production, kitchen safety, and sanitation practices. This position involves assisting the manager with food and meal preparation, maintaining cash receipts, and completing daily reports that verify transactions. The worker will ensure that food storage meets proper sanitary guidelines and that meal service adheres to scheduled times and departmental policies. The role demands careful use and maintenance of kitchen equipment, especially knives, and the timely preparation of a variety of food items and beverages. Adding garnishments for customer satisfaction and presentation is also a key responsibility.

Maintaining cleanliness and organization in work and storage areas is critical, as well as performing major cleaning of appliances like refrigerators, freezers, and steam tables. The Food Service Worker must comply with all food safety regulations and uniform policies, communicate daily with the manager to accurately prepare menus, and supervise food temperature requirements to guarantee quality and safety. Physical demands of the role include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended standing or walking. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms are required to uphold safety standards.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in food service or culinary environment preferred
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Food service certificate as needed
  • sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • timely preparation of a variety of food items and beverages
  • add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • adhere to the uniform policy
  • connect with the manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • supervise the food temperature requirements
  • maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables and other equipment
  • follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, including sweeping, mopping, and ware washing
  • maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • comply with physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking and standing
  • utilize personal protective equipment and uniforms as required
