The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is a critical position designed to support daily food and meal preparation while maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation, and kitchen safety in line with the company’s esteemed reputation. This position involves assisting the manager with various duties including the preparation of foods and baked goods according to planned menus, maintaining accurate cash receipts, meal records, and completing daily transaction reports. The Food Service Worker is responsible for ensuring food is stored correctly and sanitary practices are rigorously followed to guarantee food safety and quality. Working collaboratively with the manager, this role plays a significant part in delivering a consistently pleasant dining experience through attentive food preparation and presentation.

The position demands adherence to rigorous departmental policies and procedures for food service, including serving food according to meal schedules, proper use and care of kitchen equipment, and maintaining clean and organized work environments. There is also a supervisory aspect that involves monitoring food temperature requirements and coordinating major cleaning tasks such as refrigerators, freezers, and cooking or serving equipment. Physical stamina is important as the role requires some lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended periods of walking and standing, and may include the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniforms as mandated by safety protocols. Flexibility and a proactive attitude are crucial as job duties may evolve to meet the operational needs without formal notice.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in food service or kitchen work preferred
  • Ability to follow strict hygiene and sanitation standards
  • Physical ability to handle lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
  • Availability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing job duties

Job Qualifications

  • Food service certificate as needed
  • Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • Understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages
  • Add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • Handle physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing
  • Use uniforms and personal protective equipment as required
