The Food Service Worker role is primarily focused on supporting the high standards of the Food and Nutrition Department at ANTHC, with specific assignment to the HCB Coffee Shop and other retail food service areas as needed. This position operates Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, though flexibility is essential to cover operational needs across various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when necessary. The Food Service Worker performs a variety of tasks designed to meet patients’ and guests’ food service needs, ensuring a positive and welcoming environment.

This role involves duties such as assisting with food setup, serving, and restocking from counters and steam tables; stocking baked goods, snacks, and beverages; interacting with guests in a friendly manner; ringing up sales and following cash handling procedures; operating industrial dishwashers; performing cleaning and janitorial tasks; reporting safety or quality issues; answering patient meal-related calls; assisting with patient tray assembly; and delivering supplies or meals to floors or rooms. The position requires maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation and adherence to all food safety, health, and sanitation regulations, including HACCP policies.

Food Service Workers at ANTHC may be classified at different levels, including Food Service Worker I, II, and III, with increasing responsibilities. Higher levels may involve supervising staff, mentoring junior workers, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Training and certification such as the Municipality of Anchorage General Food Service Worker’s Card and ServSafe certification are required, with expectations for ongoing education and professional development.
