  • one year of work experience as a Food Service Helper or equivalent
  • ability to follow detailed instructions

  • basic math skills

  • availability to work part-time, 3.5 hours per day during the 10-month school year

Job Qualifications

  • One year of work experience as a Food Service Helper or equivalent experience
  • good knowledge of sanitation and personal hygiene principles as applied to food preparation and service
  • good knowledge of kitchen equipment and appliances care
  • working knowledge of large-scale food service principles and practices
  • working knowledge of basic arithmetic
  • ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to operate a cash register and prepare bank deposits
  • ability to supervise subordinate workers effectively

Job Duties

  • Operate the cash register
  • prepare bank deposits
  • keep time reports for payroll purposes
  • inspect kitchen and dining areas for cleanliness and proper functioning
  • supervise and assist in daily cleaning of kitchen and dining areas
  • keep inventory of food supplies and equipment
  • order supplies as needed
  • assign routine tasks and implement new procedures
  • prepare salads, sandwiches and desserts
  • put leftover food away
  • heat prepared food when necessary
  • perform simple, unskilled clerical duties
