Georgetown University Hospital is a renowned healthcare establishment committed to providing exceptional patient care and fostering a holistic healing environment. As a prominent medical institution, the hospital emphasizes the importance of nutrition and dietary management in patient recovery and overall wellness. The hospital's Food and Nutrition department plays an integral role in ensuring that patients receive nutritious, safe, and timely meals tailored to their specific medical needs and personal preferences. This department operates with a strong dedication to hygiene, customer service, and collaboration with clinical staff to optimize the dietary experience of every patient and visitor within the facility.
The Dietary Aide position at Georgetown University Hospital is essential for delivering quality patient meal services on assigned units. This role involves managing menu selections, assembling trays, delivering and collecting meals, and accommodating special dietary requests and in-between meal nutrition. The Dietary Aide acts as a critical communication link between patients, nursing personnel, and the Food and Nutrition department to address and resolve food-related concerns effectively. Additionally, the role supports dietitians by monitoring patients on specialized diets such as NPO, clear liquid, and full liquid diets, including recording food intake for patients undergoing intake analysis. Beyond patient service, this role includes responsibilities for setting up, preparing, and delivering food for catering events and operating retail service points like the Brown Bag and CCC cafeterias and physician lounges.
This employment opportunity is full-time with an hourly wage of USD 21.35, reflecting the hospital's commitment to fair compensation for skilled dietary professionals. The Dietary Aide will also be expected to handle customer service with professionalism, operate cash registers in accordance with handling procedures, and maintain equipment cleanliness and safety compliant with HACCP guidelines and relevant laws and regulations. This position demands a reliable, detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills who can work well both independently and as part of a team. The role is dynamic, involving physical activities such as delivering trays and stocking supplies as well as clerical tasks like updating patient menu selections in computerized systems. Candidates will be trained and supported in upholding the institution’s philosophy, policies, and standards while contributing daily to an optimal patient experience through nutrition services.
