The role of Porter/Dishwasher at Barnes-Jewish Hospital offers a part-time opportunity that is ideal for individuals who enjoy helping others and contributing to a supportive healthcare environment. This position is based in the Plaza Tower West and offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $16.75 to $20.06, depending upon qualifications and relevant experience. The shift work includes rotating weekends and holidays, with requirements to work both AM and PM shifts, totaling approximately 20 hours per week. Daily pay is available for this position, providing flexible financial benefits for the employee.

The role may also involve light food preparation tasks at some locations. This position demands adherence to strict food safety and sanitation standards, requiring the constant cleaning and sanitizing of workstations and utensils to maintain a hygienic environment.

This job does not require previous experience or supervisory experience, making it an accessible entry point for individuals looking to begin a career in healthcare support services or food service roles. Candidates with a high school diploma or GED are preferred, reflecting the emphasis on basic educational qualifications to ensure understanding of the duties involved and compliance with safety protocols.

Working at Barnes-Jewish Hospital means joining a world-class healthcare team committed to the physical, emotional, and social well-being of its employees and their families. The hospital offers a comprehensive benefits package even for part-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and legal services that become available from the first day of the month after hire. Additional benefits include disability insurance funded by the employer, a 4% automatic retirement contribution, matching on the 401(k) plan, tuition assistance, opportunities for professional development through the BJC Institute for Learning and Development, flexible spending accounts for health care and dependent care, paid time off combining vacation, sick days, holidays, and personal time, and adoption assistance.

This role is perfect for motivated individuals seeking flexible, part-time employment with a reputable healthcare institution that values diversity, professional growth, and comprehensive employee support. It offers an excellent way to gain experience in food service within a hospital environment, learn about healthcare operations, and contribute positively to patient care.
