The Food Service Worker I position at Galt Joint Union High School District plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the school meal program. Reporting directly to the Food Service Manager, this role involves assisting with the preparation and serving of nutritious school breakfasts and lunches to students and staff. The worker participates in tasks such as cooking food by assembling, heating, and packaging meals while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. This position requires adaptability to perform multiple duties from food preparation to inventory management and sanitizing kitchen areas. The job typically entails working between 3 to 8 hours per day, five days a week, over ten months annually.

- Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade
- Knowledge of safety principals applicable to food service and kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of sanitation principles applicable to food service and kitchen maintenance
- Knowledge of methods and practice of basic food service

Job Duties
- Assist in the preparation of school breakfast and lunch by cooking, assembling, heating and packaging and serving food
- Receive, store and inventory supplies according to department procedures
- Set up serving lines including condiments, straws, milk, etc.
- Serve food and drinks at serving lines in an efficient and proper manner
- Count and record monies and meals served
- Clean and wash dishes, utensils, equipment, work areas and tables
- Perform other related duties as requested
