Avera McKennan Hospital is a renowned healthcare institution dedicated to providing exceptional medical services and compassionate patient care. As part of the Avera Health system, the hospital is committed to moving health forward by promoting a multidisciplinary approach that involves collaboration among healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for patients. Located in the United States, Avera McKennan Hospital embraces values such as compassion, hospitality, and stewardship, creating a supportive environment for both patients and employees. Known for its commitment to quality care and community service, the hospital offers a variety of career opportunities for individuals passionate about contributing to healthcare excellence. The hospital is an equal opportunity employer, offering a welcoming atmosphere where diversity and inclusion are prioritized and reasonable accommodations are provided to individuals with disabilities.

We are currently seeking motivated individuals for a Float position that encompasses three essential roles: Room Services Ambassador, Dietetic Assistant, and Material Distribution Technician. The position primarily involves daytime shifts with rotating weekends and holidays, providing flexibility and varied responsibilities. The scheduled work hours for the main full-time role range from 6:30 am to 7:15 pm Monday through Friday, with additional PRN (as needed) shifts covering early mornings and afternoons. This dynamic role plays a crucial part in ensuring excellent food and material service to patients and supporting departments within the hospital.

As a Room Services Ambassador, you will provide exceptional customer service by assisting patients with meal ordering, delivering meals and snacks, and acting as a liaison to other departments regarding patient meal services. The role requires familiarity with the food service software system used for recording meal orders and clear communication across teams to manage diet orders and patient requests efficiently. In the Dietetic Assistant capacity, you will support patients by setting up meals, opening containers, and ensuring that all dietary needs and preferences are met accurately to enhance patient satisfaction and nutritional care.

The Material Distribution Technician aspect of the role includes distributing necessary materials within the hospital, ensuring timely and accurate delivery that supports smooth operations. This multifaceted position demands adherence to strict safety and sanitation standards, including food safety, transport protocols, and compliance with regulatory guidelines from organizations such as the Health Department, Joint Commission, and OSHA. Employees in this role are responsible for documenting food and equipment temperatures and maintaining clean and organized workspaces.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 to $23.00 per hour, with actual compensation dependent on experience. Employees are supported by a range of benefits designed to promote a healthy work-life balance and career growth. This includes paid time off available from day one for eligible hires, employer retirement matching contributions up to 5%, and career development opportunities through hands-on training and mentorship.

Joining Avera McKennan Hospital means becoming part of a team committed to compassionate healthcare delivery and the continuous pursuit of excellence. If you are a detail-oriented individual with a passion for service, teamwork, and supporting patient care, this Float position offers a rewarding opportunity in a respected healthcare setting.
