The Food Service Worker position at Aramark is an essential role within the organization’s food service operations. This role involves assisting the manager with food and meal preparation while ensuring that high standards of quality, sanitation, and kitchen safety are maintained. Employees in this position have the opportunity to engage in a variety of tasks that contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen. Responsibilities include preparing quality food and baked goods according to planned menus, handling daily transaction reports, and maintaining accurate cash receipts and meal records. Food Service Workers play a key role in ensuring that food is stored properly in a sanitary manner and served according to department policies and schedules.

Additionally, the role requires a strong adherence to food safety regulations, proper use and care of kitchen equipment, and the ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Workers are expected to add garnishments to meals to enhance customer satisfaction and ensure visual appeal. They also assist in major cleaning duties including the sanitation of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment. Because the role includes physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking or standing, it is suited to individuals who can meet these requirements while following the necessary use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and wearing uniforms as required.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in food service preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately

Job Qualifications

  • Food Service Certificate as needed
  • Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • Understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • Meet physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform as required
