The role of the food service team member is diverse and vital to the success of the dining experience within the establishment. The responsibilities include preparing a wide range of food items by following precise recipes to ensure consistent quality and excellence. Tasks involve washing, peeling, cutting fruits and vegetables, trimming or cleaning meats, preparing appetizers, salads, and cold dishes, and utilizing various cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming meats, fish, and vegetables. The role requires portioning, arranging, and garnishing food items for server pickup or direct guest delivery, ensuring each dish meets presentation standards. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all work areas, including cutting boards, counters, and workspaces, is crucial to uphold safety and hygiene standards.

The position involves managing food storage efficiently to prevent spoilage, handling guest orders by accurately taking and placing them in the point of service system, and supporting various functions including bartending and bussing during peak periods or staffing shortages. The food service member is expected to actively contribute to guest satisfaction efforts by being aware of satisfaction scores and implementing strategies to enhance the dining experience. They follow safe food handling procedures rigorously, adhere to sustainability guidelines under the EarthView program, and consistently practice safe work habits including the use of protective safety equipment in alignment with MSDS and OSHA standards. Job Duties

  • Follow recipes to prepare food items accordingly
  • wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables
  • cut, trim, or clean meat
  • prepare appetizers, salads, or cold dishes
  • bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • bake breads, rolls, or other baked goods
  • portion, arrange, and garnish food for pick up by server or deliver to guests
  • maintain clean and sanitized work areas such as cutting boards, counters and work spaces
  • secure and store food items properly
  • be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
  • follow safe food handling procedures
  • follow guidelines related to sustainability practices related to HHM’s EarthView program
  • practice safe work habits and wear protective safety equipment
  • ensure overall guest satisfaction
  • perform other duties as requested by management
  • take food and beverage orders and place orders in the point of service system
  • set and clear tables in dining areas
  • stock service stations with items such as ice, napkins, or straws
  • pick up orders from food preparation areas and ensure food is prepared accordingly
  • prepare guest check and if appropriate complete payment transaction
  • perform other food and beverage functions such as bartending and bussing in the event of staff shortages or peak periods
  • provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional presence at the cashier’s station at all times
  • process financial/guest transactions accurately, efficiently, and timely
  • prepare and serve menu items such as coffees, drinks, sandwiches, salads, etc. in a prompt and professional manner
  • follow food and beverage preparation and usage instructions to minimize waste
  • up-sell menu items and specials to maximize food and beverage revenues
  • ensure adequate supply of plates, utensils, napkins, and other supplies throughout shift
  • replenish/restock supplies and inventory according to established procedures and guidelines
  • perform all pre-shift and post-shift duties, side-work, and related paperwork
  • maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area including refrigerators, display cases, counters, and seating areas
  • report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, safety hazards, or maintenance problems to management
  • complete pre, running, and post shift side-work requirements
  • ability to multi-task with the needs of the business
  • know all pricing, promotions, and discounts that apply to pricing
  • knowledge of all amenities to properly transact and deliver to its completion
  • adhere to appearance, hygiene and uniform standards
  • responsible for opening, closing and running duties of cash handling policies and cash out process
  • adhere to all internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • attend all department and pre-shift meetings.
