The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is vital within the food services team, assisting managers with meal preparation and food production, maintaining cash receipts and accurate meal records, and supporting the completion of daily operational reports. The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing high-quality food and baked goods following planned menus, verifying transactions through daily reports, ensuring meals are complete and served according to schedule and departmental policies, and properly storing food in sanitary conditions. The role demands the use and care of kitchen equipment, particularly knives, and adherence to strict food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage.
Additionally, this position involves maintaining an organized, clean kitchen environment through tasks such as cleaning and sanitizing appliances, counters, steam tables, and floors, as well as managing garbage collection areas. The Food Service Worker must coordinate with the Manager daily to prepare menus accurately and supervise food temperature requirements to maintain food safety.
Physical demands may include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service preferred
- Ability to maintain hygiene and safety standards
- Capable of standing for extended periods
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- Food Service Certificate as needed
- Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure
Job Duties
- Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
- Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
- Understand what is inclusive of a meal
- Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
- Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
- Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
- Timely preparation of a variety of food items and beverages
- Add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
- Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
- Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
- Adhere to the uniform policy
- Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
- Supervise the food temperature requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
- Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables and other equipment
- Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness to ensure a balanced and safe environment including sweeping, moping, and ware washing
- Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
- Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
- Handle physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing
- Comply with uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
