This position is for a Food Service Worker who will be part of the food service team at Texas Health Cleburne. The role is full-time day shift and is based at 201 Walls Drive in Cleburne. The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in the hospital’s operations by ensuring the timely and safe delivery of meals to patients and cafeteria patrons. Working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, the Food Service Worker will contribute to exceptional patient care by demonstrating a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and adherence to food safety standards. This position requires collaboration with other team members to serve food with courtesy and efficiency. Key responsibilities include serving food on cafeteria and patient tray lines, assembling and delivering patient trays, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in compliance with HACCP and OSHA standards. The worker will also perform routine equipment cleaning, record food delivery times and temperatures, and manage food labeling and storage following FIFO food production principles.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably previous experience in food service within a hospital setting. A Food Handlers Certificate must be obtained within 30 days of employment. Strong communication skills, basic math and English proficiency, and the ability to work discreetly and cooperatively in a team environment are essential. The Food Service Worker is expected to follow strict hygiene and safety protocols, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff alike.

Job Duties

  • serves food on cafeteria and patient tray lines utilizing good customer skills when serving patrons
  • assembles delivers and retrieves patient trays
  • documents food delivery times and food tallies performs other simple record keeping such as temperature checks on equipment and food
  • reports variances from standards to supervisor
  • performs simple food assembly such as preparing salads portioning and garnishing foods according to instruction
  • cleans and sanitizes equipment wares walls and floors routinely
  • washes and sanitizes dishes pots and pans as well as all cooking utensils and cooking equipment according to department standards and procedures
  • labels and dates foods according to HACCP standards learns HACCP sanitation guidelines and follows for safe food handling
  • knows and performs proper procedure for taking and recording temperatures of food items both raw and cooked and refrigerated units
  • demonstrates and performs procedures when temperatures are inadequate according to standards
  • understands and utilizes the FIFO system of food production
  • follows and learns OSHA safety guidelines
  • collects and delivers floor stock utilizing FIFO delivers between meal nourishments and late trays according to departmental standards
  • maintains assigned areas and equipment in a safe clean neat and orderly manner to meet exceed both department and TDH sanitation standards in both department sanitation and personal hygiene
  • disposes of trash and garbage according to standards and procedures
  • follows clean as you go as well as proper hand hygiene
  • performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
