The Food Service Worker role at Baylor University is a vital position within the Chartwells Higher Ed division of Compass Group. This role focuses on preparing, presenting, and serving food while maintaining high standards of safety, sanitation, and customer service. Located at Baylor University at 1120 South 5th, Waco, TX 76706, the position is available in both full-time and part-time capacities with schedules that vary by days and shifts. Employees in this role receive competitive hourly wages ranging from $13.00 to $17.00 and enjoy perks such as free employee meals and all major holidays off.

This role requires a hands-on team player who can efficiently carry out food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables as well as weighing and measuring ingredients in accordance with approved recipes and production standards. The Food Service Worker ensures proper portion control and serving temperatures, adheres to food safety protocols, and maintains cleanliness of workstations and equipment. Serving customers in a friendly and efficient manner while resolving concerns and communicating with supervisors forms a key part of the customer service aspect of this job.

The Food Service Worker contributes significantly to the smooth operation of dining services at Baylor University by managing supplies, following inventory and cash control procedures, complying with sanitation and safety guidelines, and performing additional duties as assigned. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior customer service experience preferred
  • Prior experience in foodservice preferred
  • Ability to comply with all sanitation and safety regulations
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry weights as required
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Performs prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables
  • Weighs and measures designated ingredients
  • Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards
  • Stores food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
  • Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Distributes supplies, utensils and portable equipment
  • Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Serves customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service
  • Resolves customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor
  • Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
  • Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
