The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is integral to maintaining the high standards of food preparation, safety, and customer satisfaction that the company is known for. This position involves assisting the manager in the preparation of food and meals according to a planned menu, maintaining cash receipts and meal records, and completing daily transaction reports. The Food Service Worker ensures that all food is stored hygienically and that kitchen equipment is cared for properly, especially knives, which are critical in food preparation. The role demands strict adherence to food safety regulations to uphold sanitation, food handling, and storage standards.
In addition to food preparation, the Food Service Worker is responsible for serving food in line with meal schedules and department policies while also adding garnishments to enhance presentation and customer enjoyment. Regular cleaning and maintenance duties are essential to the position, including scrubbing and polishing counters, sanitizing steam tables and cooking equipment, and maintaining clean garbage collection and kitchen floor areas. Physical stamina is necessary, as the role may involve lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. Uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required to sustain safety and professionalism in the workspace.
This role requires effective communication with the food service manager daily to ensure accurate menu preparation and supervision to maintain appropriate food temperature requirements. The Food Service Worker plays a key role in sustaining a safe, clean, and organized kitchen and dining environment, creating positive impacts for both employees and customers. Job Duties
- Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
- prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
- understand what is inclusive of a meal
- ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
- serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
- use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
- timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
- coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
- adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
- adhere to the uniform policy
- connect with the manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
- supervise the food temperature requirements
- maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
- scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
- follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
- maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
- perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
- fulfill physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
- use uniforms and/or personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
