This position involves assisting the food service manager with meal preparation, handling cash receipts and meal records, and supporting the completion of daily reports. Food Service Workers are responsible for ensuring that food production meets quality standards and that kitchen operations comply with safety policies and procedures.
This role requires active participation in various kitchen duties including preparing food and baked goods according to planned menus, storing food properly and hygienically, serving meals according to schedule and department policies, and maintaining cleanliness and order in the work environment. Employees in this position must use and care for kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and other utensils. An essential function is adhering strictly to food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage to uphold the highest standards of kitchen safety.
The Food Service Worker will also be involved in performing deep cleaning tasks such as scrubbing and polishing counters, cleaning steam tables and other equipment, and keeping garbage areas tidy. Physical demands of the job include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing. The role may require wearing uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure safety and professionalism on the job.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food service or related field preferred
- Ability to maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions
- Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment
- Commitment to teamwork and safety protocols
Job Qualifications
- Food service certificate as needed
- Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure
Job Duties
- Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
- Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
- Understand what is inclusive of a meal
- Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
- Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
- Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
- Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
- Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
- Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
- Adhere to the uniform policy
- Connect with the manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
- Supervise the food temperature requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
- Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
- Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
- Duties include sweeping, mopping, ware washing
- Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
- Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
- Comply with physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing
- Wear uniform and personal protective equipment as required
