The Food Service Worker is an integral member of the culinary team committed to delivering exceptional food service and nutrition support to patients, hospital staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include preparing and servicing food items in accordance with dietary guidelines, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in both kitchen and dining areas, and assisting in various food service areas such as tray line, cashier, barista station, dishwashing, and food prep. Job Requirements

Ability to learn and follow established policy and procedures
Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions

Must be able to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
POS (cash register) skills when applicable
Food handler's card required within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services team members
Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for employees at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital and Olive Branch Senior Center
Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
Physical ability to clean kitchen equipment and handle cleaning chemicals
Ability to lift and carry boxes and restock shelves

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience in food service or culinary roles is advantageous
Ability to learn and follow established policies and food handling regulations
Effective communication skills
Customer service orientation
Ability to pass food handler certification tests as required
Previous cash handling experience (POS) when applicable
Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
Physical capability to lift and carry food supplies and perform cleaning duties

Job Duties

Set up work station and prepare assigned foods and nourishments according to established procedures and food quality standards
Clean and sanitize dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses, and cooking utensils
Clean and sanitize designated kitchen equipment and areas, dispose of waste materials
Monitor dish machine temperature
Maintain par levels of foods and supplies, order and restock items, rotate food stocks, check expiration dates
Check and record food and equipment temperatures and report discrepancies
Deliver meals, nourishments, late trays, and tube feedings to units, return excess nourishments as requested
Assist in catering or special event services
Handle cash register and cafe transactions if applicable
Interact with food service personnel, hospital staff, patients, and families delivering excellent customer service
Follow cleaning chemical usage guidelines and maintain sanitation standards
Work quickly and accurately while following supervisor instructions
