The position being offered is for a part-time Cook at The Café at Kirkwood, a vital component of the culinary team on the main campus. The Café works in conjunction with The Class Act Restaurant and the banquet and catering services provided by The Hotel at Kirkwood, creating a comprehensive and varied menu that satisfies a broad range of tastes and dietary needs. The cook will be responsible for preparing food on demand or in anticipation of business needs, ensuring sanitary and safe food handling practices, and supporting various culinary and operational functions as necessary. This role offers $15.50 hourly pay and requires candidates to have experience in a commercial kitchen setting. - Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Commercial kitchen experience
- Must be able to stand 5-6 hours a day and to squat, reach and bend regularly
- Knowledge of food storage and handling techniques
- Ability to follow instructions such as menus and recipes
- Must have effective time management and organizational skills

Job Duties
- Prepare food production items for consumption, either on demand or based on anticipated business needs
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices
- Substitute for or assist other cooks and bakers as business needs demand
- Support other functions such as barista, cashier and dish as business needs demand
- Prepare, package and serve food items for sale and consumption at satellite locations
- Provide direction to prep cooks as needed
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption
- Positively engage with customers and coworkers
- Leave café and work areas clean and set for the following shift, including dishwashing as needed
- Transport supplies, food and equipment between various café locations on campus
- Perform other related work duties as assigned
