Job Description

The Ripon Unified School District is dedicated to providing a high-quality education through a comprehensive and coordinated program from kindergarten through high school. Serving a diverse student population across its five elementary schools and two high schools, the district emphasizes small class sizes and active parental and community involvement. This community-based support system is evident both in financial contributions and volunteer efforts, creating a nurturing educational environment that supports student achievement and well-being. Employing over 150 certificated staff members, including teachers and specialists, alongside 200 plus support staff such as aides, bilingual liaisons, secretaries, custodians, and yard duties, Ripon Unified School District is committed to fostering strong teamwork and a shared mission to support students' educational success. The leadership team of 18 administrators guides and supports this commitment to excellence throughout the district.

The role of Food Service Worker within Ripon Unified School District is critical in supporting the nutritional needs of students by preparing and serving meals in school cafeterias. This position involves assisting in preparing school lunches, serving meals, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the cafeteria environment. Reporting to the Food Service Supervisor, the Food Service Worker helps ensure that students receive healthy and timely meals in a well-organized and safe setting. This role requires the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions, perform tasks independently without close supervision, and interact positively with children of all age groups. Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, occasionally sit or climb, and lift or move loads up to 50 pounds using proper techniques. Working conditions may involve exposure to temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, humidity, chemical fumes, and other environmental factors typical to a kitchen setting.

This position is part-time with up to 7 hours per day as scheduled by the supervisor, and compensation is aligned with the CFTA Salary Schedule Range 26. The Food Service Worker plays a vital part in creating a positive school experience by directly contributing to children’s health and well-being through nutritional support. The role offers the opportunity to work in an educational environment that values teamwork, community involvement, and the development of its students, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy working in service-oriented, fast-paced food preparation settings within a school community.
