Job Description
Baptist Health stands as the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in the region, encompassing 12 hospitals, over 29,000 employees, 4,500 physicians, and 200 outpatient centers, urgent care facilities, and physician practices scattered across Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Renowned internationally for its centers of excellence in cancer treatment, cardiovascular care, orthopedics and sports medicine, and neurosciences, Baptist Health is deeply rooted in a faith-based mission aimed at achieving medical excellence. For more than 26 years, the organization has been consistently recognized as one of Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For. Furthermore, in the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital Rankings, Baptist Health emerged as the most awarded healthcare system in South Florida, garnering 63 high-performing honors.
Baptist Health thrives because of its people. The organization prides itself on fostering personal connections that transcend professional boundaries and nurturing meaningful relationships with patients and their families, extending well beyond the provision of healthcare services. Many team members have personal experiences that mirror those of their patients, infusing the workplace culture with empathy and dedication. This culture is anchored in a shared sense of purpose, where every employee plays a vital role in positively impacting lives through compassionate, quality care.
The role of Food Service Worker at Baptist Health offers a vital opportunity to contribute to this mission by supporting patient care through food service excellence. This part-time to full-time position comes with an estimated pay range of $16.00 to $19.49 per hour, depending on experience. The responsibility of preparing, assembling, and delivering patient meals aligns with strict standards of quality, service, infection control, and food safety. This role also includes delivering stock supplies to patient floor kitchens, serving guests while maintaining warm customer relations, replenishing used foods and supplies, and completing sanitation duties to uphold a safe and welcoming environment.
In addition to meal preparation and service, this position encompasses dish room duties and handling payments both for guest trays and cafeteria food sales. The individual may also set up and serve meals across various dining outlets within the facility, including corporate retail, catering, and the Doctors Dining Room, as well as decorate buffet and reception tables. Baptist Health expects this role to perform all functions independently with cross-training in multiple food service responsibilities, which also involves supporting the training of others.
More than just a food handler, the Food Service Worker plays a multi-layered role that directly impacts patients' safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction, enhancing the hospital experience through quality food service. Baptist Health’s commitment to employee growth is reflected in its 'grow our own' philosophy, which supports ongoing career development and continuing education, including tuition reimbursement programs and comprehensive health and wellness resources. Employees can participate in wellness programs that help reduce out-of-pocket medical expenses, highlighting the organization's dedication to fostering both personal and professional well-being.
Joining Baptist Health means becoming part of a dedicated team where your work impacts lives daily, supported by a robust system that values growth, community, and excellence.
