Aramark is currently seeking a Part-Time Food Service Worker to join their team at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, Illinois. This position offers an hourly wage of $17.25, with additional shift and weekend pay incentives, and operates primarily on an overnight (3rd) shift in the hospital cafeteria. This role provides an ideal opportunity for individuals passionate about food service, sanitation, and ensuring high-quality meals in a healthcare facility setting. The Food Service Worker will assist the manager in a variety of critical tasks including food and meal preparation, maintaining accurate cash receipts and meal records, and compiling daily reports. The role requires adherence to strict food safety regulations, kitchen hygiene practices, and uniform policies to create a safe and pleasant dining experience for hospital staff, patients, and visitors.

In this role, the Food Service Worker will be responsible for preparing quality food and baked goods according to planned menus, ensuring proper meal inclusions, and timely serving schedules aligned with department policies. Maintenance of storage areas for food items in a sanitary and accurate manner is essential, as is the proper use and care of kitchen equipment and tools, especially knives. The Food Service Worker will also assist in large-scale cleaning and sanitation duties including refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment, counters, and steam tables to uphold a balanced and safe kitchen environment.

Physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing are part of the job, which may also require the use of uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety and compliance with health standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food service or related work preferred
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and weekends
  • Food service certificate as needed
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, and other physical tasks
  • Willingness to comply with all sanitation and safety standards
  • Reliable transportation to Glenview, Illinois
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • Understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • Handle physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing
  • Comply with uniform and personal protective equipment policies
