The role available is a Food Service Worker position within our dynamic team. This role is integral to the daily operations of meal preparation, serving, and inventory management across multiple shifts. The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing, heating, and serving meals with attention to portion control and dietary requirements. Maintaining cleanliness and order in all food storage and service areas is essential to this position, as is the ability to receive and manage incoming food deliveries efficiently. Candidates will be expected to participate in ongoing staff development and training, including mandatory certifications set forth by the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Homeless Services (DHS). The role demands excellent communication skills to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team setting and contribute positively to the achievement of organizational objectives. This position requires a valid New York City DOHMH Food Protection Certificate or an approved equivalent and at least one year of experience working with homeless or special needs populations. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare, heat and serve meals
  • Distribute and control the inventory client supplies, including the distribution of meals on all shifts
  • Ensure that food services meet health regulations and safety codes
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dining area including, cleaning up after all meals
  • Understand weights and measures as it relates to portion control
  • Maintain the service and preparation areas in a clean and organized manner
  • Receive all incoming food deliveries, maintain the cleanliness and order of all food storage areas
  • Attend on-going training for all food service staff, including required trainings set forth from DOH and DHS
  • Participate in training and staff-development activities to acquire and maintain interpersonal and operational skills necessary for successful job performance
  • Communicate effectively with other staff within an interdisciplinary context to contribute to the achievement of facility goals and objectives
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisory staff
