The role of Food Service Worker – Barista at University Hospital is a critical position within the Dietary department, offered on a part-time day shift basis. This position is designed for candidates who excel in customer service and food and beverage preparation in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Barista will support retail service operations by assisting with station set-up, efficiently preparing and serving quality food and beverages to staff, students, and visitors. This role requires maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary serving and dining environment while delivering superior customer service in alignment with University Hospital’s Mission Statement and Five Star Service Program.

Candidates will be responsible for setting up designated food stations, preparing customer orders accurately, and managing payments. The ideal Food Service Worker – Barista will have at least one year of relevant barista experience, including coffee grinding, brewing, and preparing baked goods. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team are essential, as is fluency in English for clear interaction with customers. Attention to detail, hospitality orientation, and the capability to establish effective connections within a multicultural setting further define the expectations for this role.

Compensation for this position is competitive and complies with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, with an hourly wage range of $17.63 to $18.67. Job Duties

  • Sets up designated food stations, prepares customer orders and services customers in an efficient manner within Retail Services
  • carries out various cleaning and sanitation functions
  • cleans and restocks work area and sanitizes equipment
  • provides superior customer service in compliance with University Hospital’s Mission Statement and Five Star Service Program
  • welcomes customers, informs them about specials or new items, answers questions and accepts orders and payments
  • prepares beverages as requested by guests
  • prepares food such as baked goods, grinding coffee, brewing coffee and tea
