The Food Service Worker position at Aramark is an essential role that supports daily food and meal preparation operations as well as record-keeping functions within food service areas. This role involves assisting managers with food preparation tasks, ensuring the quality and safety of food products, maintaining sanitation standards, and providing excellent service to customers. Workers in this role are responsible for preparing a variety of food items and baked goods following planned menus and schedules. This includes ensuring that meals are served according to established department policies and procedures, managing food storage in sanitary conditions, and using kitchen equipment properly and safely. A Food Service Worker also helps to maintain clean, organized working and storage environments, including thorough cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, steam tables, and cooking equipment.

The role requires attention to detail, particularly in adhering to food safety regulations such as sanitation, food handling, and storage procedures. Employees collaborate closely with managers daily to understand the menu and prepare meals accurately while maintaining food temperature requirements. The job also includes responsibilities like preparing reports to verify commercial transactions and managing meal records with cash receipts. Physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing are typical, along with the possible need to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in food service or kitchen environment helpful
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Capacity to perform physical tasks associated with the role
  • Willingness to wear uniform and PPE when necessary
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • Food Service Certificate as needed
  • Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • Understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and garnishments
  • Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, duties include sweeping, moping, ware washing
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • Handle physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
  • Use uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
