Job Description
Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is a vital organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality of life for Marines, their families, and the broader Marine Corps community. MCCS brings together a diverse team of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, and volunteers who collaborate to ensure the smooth operation of various programs and services. These programs cater to the well-being, professional development, and recreation of the Marine Corps family, reinforcing the organization's commitment to service, excellence, and community support. MCCS operates with a strong focus on teamwork, respect, and dedication to the needs of its members, emphasizing a service-oriented culture that prioritizes the interests of the Corps above all else.
This particular position is located at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) Camp Smith, within the Aloha Kitchen facility. The role is for a Food Service Worker at the NA-02 level, a position crucial to the daily food service operations at MCCS. Serving as a Food Service Worker involves a variety of tasks that require attention to detail, adherence to sanitation standards, and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service. The successful candidate will be engaged in food preparation, serving meals cafeteria-style, maintaining cleanliness and order in the dining area, and ensuring all food service equipment is properly used and sanitized. This role combines physical activity with interpersonal skills, requiring efficiency in service as well as the ability to interact politely and helpfully with diners.
The position demands an individual who can follow sequential tasks carefully, use simple arithmetic for portion control, and remain focused amid a busy, sometimes noisy environment. The Food Service Worker will have responsibilities ranging from setting up steam tables with hot and cold food items, preparing a variety of salads and sandwiches, making coffee and specialty drinks, to operating cash registers when required. Additionally, the role involves some physical work such as lifting and moving objects up to 45 lbs, helping unload food deliveries, and maintaining cleanliness in a potentially warm and fast-paced kitchen environment.
Candidates will work under the supervision of higher-level staff but are expected to exercise personal judgment to meet standards of sanitation, attractiveness, safety, timeliness, and service. The successful applicant must demonstrate the ability to deliver world-class customer service with a friendly and helpful demeanor, able to resolve issues promptly and adhere strictly to safety and Equal Employment Opportunity standards.
Employment through MCCS at MCBH promises a disciplined yet supportive work environment where employees are valued for their contribution to the Marine Corps mission. The role supports a mission larger than just food service itself, helping to ensure Marines and their families receive nourishing meals in facilities that promote camaraderie and wellness. Applications for this position are accepted exclusively online, and potential candidates must be mindful of submission deadlines and application procedures. MCCS is committed to equal opportunity and diversity, providing reasonable accommodations and fostering a safe workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
