This job opportunity is for a Food Service Worker position within the Food Services division at the University Medical Center of El Paso. The role is full-time with a rotating schedule, ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to assisting with the nutritional needs of hospital patients. Responsibilities include performing a variety of tasks related to food service such as simple food preparation, tray assembly and delivery, as well as ware washing and maintaining cleanliness in food service areas. The worker will prepare and deliver late trays and supplemental feedings to nursing units, take inventory, and provide proper floor stock to these units. Additionally, the role involves assisting in food preparation for bakery products, salads, and grilled foods intended for hospital patients and cafeteria service. The ability to operate cash registers may also be required.
Candidates for this position are expected to adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene standards, which includes obtaining a Food Handlers card from the City-County Health Department within the first 30 days of employment. Fluency in English is required, with bilingual skills in English and Spanish considered an advantage. Previous experience in food service is preferred but not mandatory, while a high school diploma or equivalent education is also preferred. The role demands excellent communication skills to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions and relevant safety precautions effectively.
