In this role, the Food Service Worker will assist the manager with meal preparation and ensure the accurate maintenance of cash receipts and meal records. They will also help with the completion of daily reports, contributing to the smooth operational flow of the food service area.

The role involves preparing quality food and baked goods according to planned menus, coordinating major cleanings of kitchen equipment, and adhering to strict food safety regulations. The Food Service Worker will serve food according to departmental policies and schedules, ensure proper storage of food items in a sanitary manner, and use kitchen equipment safely and correctly. Attention to detail is key as they add garnishments to dishes to enhance customer satisfaction and presentation. This position requires supervising food temperature requirements, maintaining an organized work environment, and performing physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food service or related field preferred
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to wear uniform and PPE
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • Food Service Certificate as needed
  • Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • Understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages
  • Add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • Physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
  • Uniform and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
