Job Description
SUN Behavioral Health is a reputable healthcare provider specializing in behavioral health services aimed at supporting patients through mental health challenges in a compassionate and professional environment. As an established behavioral health facility, SUN Behavioral Health prides itself on its commitment to excellence, patient safety, quality, and dignity. The organization fosters a culture that upholds the highest standards of care, teamwork, and integrity while focusing on serving the needs of patients, families, and hospital staff alike. The facility emphasizes comprehensive safety and infection control measures to ensure a secure and healing atmosphere for all who enter their doors, thus enhancing the overall quality of care and patient satisfaction.
The role of Food Service Worker under the supervision of the Director of Dietary Services at SUN Behavioral Health is pivotal in maintaining dietary services by performing multiple food service tasks with efficiency and professionalism. The position involves serving food to employees and visitors, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the serving line, replenishing food and beverage items, and maintaining the cafeteria and food preparation areas in a sanitary fashion. This role is essential in supporting the hospital’s mission to provide quality care by managing food safety, upholding infection prevention standards, and fostering positive interactions with patients and visitors. This job requires an individual who is detail-oriented, team-minded, and capable of adhering to strict safety and hygiene protocols.
Candidates for this position should be prepared to engage in diverse duties such as making coffee, replenishing silverware, cups, straws, and condiments, cleaning tables and chairs with hospital-approved cleaners, operating the dishwasher correctly, and performing special cleaning duties as assigned. The role also calls for maintaining stock inventory, notifying supervisors for ordering when necessary, disposing of trash properly, and supporting a collaborative team environment. The Food Service Worker’s responsibilities extend beyond food handling to include adherence to safety practices, communication, and teamwork, all while showing respect and dignity towards patients, families, and colleagues in alignment with the hospital’s core values.
This employment opportunity is ideal for individuals with prior food service experience who are passionate about working in a hospital dietary department, particularly in a behavioral health setting. SUN Behavioral Health encourages and supports ongoing education and development to ensure that staff remain competent and compliant with federal and state guidelines, privacy laws including HIPAA, and hospital policies. The position typically requires a high school diploma or GED, certification in CPR, and hospital-selected de-escalation technique training. Experience requirements include at least three years in a food service line or restaurant setting, with preferred experience in hospital dietary departments or behavioral health environments.
Overall, the Food Service Worker plays a critical role in SUN Behavioral Health’s commitment to service excellence by ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming cafeteria experience for all stakeholders. This role not only contributes to the operational success of the dietary services department but also enhances the overall patient and employee experience by supporting a culture of safety, integrity, teamwork, and compassion.
