Job Description
The Travis Air Force Base Child Development Center and Youth Center, located in California, represent key facilities dedicated to supporting the morale and welfare of military families and personnel. These centers operate under the Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) system, which means they are supported through revenues generated by the facilities themselves, rather than congressional appropriations. Job Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, including Child Care Tier 1 background investigation
- maintain current immunization record
- complete pre-employment physical examination and one every three years thereafter
- U.S. citizen, national or owe allegiance to the U.S.
- comply with selective service registration (if applicable)
- direct deposit required
- satisfactorily complete employment verification (E-Verify)
- ability to provide REAL ID or authorized identity documents
- must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements
- commitment to upholding the U.S. Constitution and rule of law
- probationary period may be required
- pre-employment requirements must be met prior to entrance on duty
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to follow simple oral instructions
- able to use hand tools for cleaning
- operate simple machines
- skilled in tasks with several steps requiring judgment in sequencing
- knowledge of sanitation standards in food handling and kitchen cleaning
- experience can include paid and unpaid work including volunteer experience
- education substitution not allowed
Job Duties
- Sets up cafeteria lines, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter and beverages
- serves food cafeteria style
- breaks down and cleans area when meals are complete
- sets up dining room tables for service, places food and beverages on tables, and replenishes items as necessary
- sets up and operates dishwashers, performs preventive maintenance and cleaning
- scrapes, soaks, scours and scrubs bowls, pots and pans
- performs heavy duty cleaning tasks such as ceilings, exhaust hoods, under and behind kitchen equipment, washes floors and walls, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, sanitizes garbage cans
- may unload food from delivery trucks
- collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area
- assembles and tosses fresh fruit or green salads in quantity using prepared dressings, serves into standard serving sizes
- makes cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients
- makes coffee, tea and other beverages
