This Food Service Worker position is based at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Plano and operates Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. The role is vital within the food service team and focuses on assisting the manager with food and meal preparation, ensuring the maintenance of cash receipts and meal records, and contributing to daily report completion. The worker will uphold rigorous standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and kitchen safety, supporting the seamless operation of food service and contributing to the satisfaction and well-being of patients and staff. Key responsibilities include preparing a variety of quality food and baked goods according to planned menus, serving food adhering to meal schedules and departmental policies, and performing major cleaning tasks such as refrigerators, freezers, and equipment maintenance.

The Food Service Worker role demands attention to detail, a commitment to following safety and sanitation protocols, and the ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. Physical demands may include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing; employees may also be required to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment. This role supports the dynamic environment of a medical center’s food service operations and is essential in delivering excellent service to customers. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food service or related field preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment
  • Strong communication skills to connect with management and team

Job Qualifications

  • Food service certificate as needed
  • Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • Understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • Handle physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing
  • Wear uniforms and personal protective equipment as required
