The Food Service Worker supports daily food operation activities including cleaning, food preparation, patient trayline service, and retail cafe responsibilities. Job Requirements
- Ability to learn and follow established policy and procedures
- Ability to read and understand written and verbal instruction

- Must be able to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required
- Ability to operate POS system or cash register when applicable
- For Banner Staffing Services team members, food handlers card required within 30 days of hire unless exempted by location
- Employees at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital and Olive Branch Senior Center must possess Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire and maintain for employment duration
- Must sign Arizona Criminal History Affidavit upon hire
Job Qualifications
- Ability to learn and follow established policy and procedures

- Knowledge of food handling regulations and willingness to pass certification tests
- Previous experience in food service preferred
- Additional related education or experience preferred
- Ability to follow instructions for the use of cleaning chemicals
- For Banner Behavioral Health Hospital and Olive Branch Senior Center employees, possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math skills for cash register operation if applicable
Job Duties
- Set up work station and prepare all assigned foods and nourishments in correct quantities following established procedures and portion control standards
- Clean and sanitize dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses, cooking utensils, designated equipment, and kitchen areas, disposing of all waste materials
- Maintain par levels of foods and supplies, order and restock items, rotate food stocks, and check expiration dates
- Check and record food and equipment temperatures according to defined procedures and report discrepancies
- Deliver meals, nourishments, late trays, and tube feedings to units and return excess nourishments as requested
- Assist in catering or special event service
- Handle cash register transactions and retail cafe operations if applicable
- Interact with food service department personnel, hospital staff, patients, and families while following work routines, providing good customer service and maintaining sanitation standards
- Follow instructions and guidelines for use of cleaning chemicals and safely work in physical contact with them
