Job Description

Wegmans Food Markets is a well-established and highly respected grocery store chain known for its exceptional customer service, diverse product offerings, and strong commitment to employee development. Founded in Rochester, New York, Wegmans has built a reputation as a leader in the grocery industry, consistently ranking high on Fortune's Best Companies to Work For list. As Wegmans expands its presence, it is excited to announce the opening of a new location in Ballantyne, North Carolina, scheduled for Fall 2026. This new store aims to bring Wegmans' unique shopping experience to the vibrant community of Ballantyne, offering fresh ingredients, delicious meals, and outstanding customer service.

The Ballantyne location will provide a variety of employment opportunities as part of the Restaurant Foods team, a dynamic group responsible for preparing and serving a diverse range of ready-to-eat foods. Employees in this team work across several departments, including Pizza, Sub Shop, Sushi, Salads, Asian Foods, and Market Cafe, contributing to a warm and upbeat atmosphere that customers appreciate. This role offers a unique chance to be at the heart of helping people create great meals with ease, making every customer's shopping experience exceptional.

Employees hired prior to the store's opening will participate in off-site training at existing Wegmans locations in the Greater Raleigh Area, including Cary, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Wake Forest. This training period, expected to extend through September 2026, provides valuable on-the-job experience to ensure staff are well-prepared for the grand opening. Wegmans supports its employees during this time by offering hotel accommodations and mileage reimbursement for those scheduled for off-site training.

Working at Wegmans means joining a company that prioritizes its people, offering competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits to help employees balance their personal and professional lives. Benefits include paid time off, premium pay rates for overtime and holiday work, affordable health care coverage, a retirement plan with 401(k) matching, and a generous scholarship program to support employees' educational goals. Additionally, the LiveWell Employee & Family program offers resources for emotional, work-life, and financial wellness.

This position is ideal for individuals passionate about food, customer service, and teamwork, who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy interacting with others. Employees will have the opportunity to develop their culinary skills, build relationships with customers, and contribute to a company culture that values diversity, sustainability, and community support. At Wegmans, career growth is encouraged through structured training programs and various opportunities within the organization, including culinary, corporate, distribution, and specialty restaurant roles.

Joining the Wegmans team in Ballantyne is more than just a job; it is a chance to be part of a mission-driven, values-based company where your enthusiasm and dedication make a real difference. As a team member, you will help create unforgettable experiences for customers, enjoy a supportive work environment, and benefit from a company culture that has earned recognition as one of the best places to work in the nation.
