The role of Food Service Worker at South Central Regional Jail is an essential position within Aramark’s correctional facility food service operations. This role involves supervising inmates to ensure that meals and food items are prepared correctly and according to established production plans. The Food Service Worker is responsible for training workers in proper methods of performing their duties, assigning tasks efficiently, and coordinating work to enhance operational effectiveness. A significant portion of the role revolves around maintaining the highest standards of sanitation and safety within the facility, adhering strictly to all established food handling, storage, and security regulations.
Starting at a competitive rate of $16 per hour, this position offers full health benefits, a 401k plan, vacation and paid time off, holiday pay, college tuition assistance, free shift meals, and more, making it a rewarding opportunity for those interested in food service and correctional facility work alike. The Food Service Worker participates directly in meal preparation and service, ensuring food portions meet special dietary requirements, and supervises inmates during food preparation and tray assembly. The individual in this role also manages inventory control processes, assists with requisitions and orders, and ensures all kitchen tools and keys are secured at all times to meet security standards. Additionally, the Food Service Worker monitors temperature and production logs to maintain compliance with Aramark’s strict quality guidelines.
This position requires strong leadership abilities, the ability to motivate and manage a team of inmates or workers in a high-security environment, and adherence to company policies and correctional facility regulations. The role may also necessitate physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking. Additionally, uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required to ensure safety and compliance. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain correctional facility security clearance and hold a food safety certification. This position is not just about food service; it is about delivering quality meals while upholding the integrity and safety of the correctional environment.
