TMCC is currently recruiting for a full-time Food Service Worker 2 to join the team at Cafe Verde, which is located on the TMCC Dandini campus. This role is integral to the daily operations of the campus dining services, particularly focused on the hot line section of the cafeteria. The position involves preparing appealing and nutritious hot and cold meals according to standard recipes, ensuring that food is served at the correct temperatures and using standard measurements. The Food Service Worker 2 is responsible for maintaining an orderly and clean kitchen station including grill, fry, prep, and salad areas, which involves proper arrangement of ingredients, tools, and utensils.

This role requires proficiency in operating standard kitchen equipment and appliances safely and efficiently. It also involves assisting with the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, including coolers and food storage spaces, following strict food handling and safety regulations. Additional responsibilities include helping with ordering supplies, managing inventory, and ensuring proper dating and rotation of products to maintain freshness and minimize waste. The working environment is a dynamic open-air kitchen where teamwork and communication are essential. This position demands a commitment to hygiene, with the expectation of cleaning the workstation continuously throughout service and after closing.

The position is classified as Grade 22, Step 01, with an hourly wage of $18.88, reflecting TMCC’s placement within the classified service system. Employment is contingent on funding availability, and the role does not provide layoff rights. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, though emergency situations occasionally require extended hours.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • two years of experience in quantity food preparation and service or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to work a schedule of monday through friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with flexibility for emergency extended hours

  • ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
