Given the medical setting, excellent and respectful customer service qualities are paramount. Additionally, this position requires the ability to train new or less experienced coworkers, thereby contributing to the team’s overall efficiency and quality standards.
This role offers a full-time schedule with 40 hours per week on the day shift, providing a consistent and engaging work routine within one of the top-ranked hospitals in Seattle and Washington State since 2012. UW Medical Center-Montlake is strategically located near the University of Washington campus, offering convenient access to public transit including Sound Transit’s light rail. The hospital is nationally recognized in multiple specialties and is dedicated to fostering a workplace that promotes exploration, education, and excellence.
UW Medicine is unique as it integrates a top medical school, an internationally recognized research center, and multiple hospitals and clinics across the region. Employees of UW Medicine contribute to improving healthcare by advancing medical knowledge and delivering exceptional patient care. The system values diversity, integrity, and collaboration, ensuring a respectful atmosphere for all staff, patients, families, and colleagues. Working at UW Medicine provides the opportunity to impact the health of the public significantly and be part of a community committed to innovation and compassionate care.
Compensation for this Barista position ranges from $21.70 to $24.97 per hour. As a regular full-time role with a unionized bargaining unit (WFSE Campuswide), employees benefit from job stability and comprehensive benefits. UW Medicine also emphasizes inclusivity and equal opportunity in its hiring practices, supporting applicants from various backgrounds without discrimination. This position requires possession or eligibility to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment and at least one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverages. Equivalent education and experience may substitute where legal requirements allow.
Overall, this role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to join a reputable healthcare system’s nutrition services team. The Barista will play a critical part in delivering quality food service that enhances the patient and visitor experience while upholding the high standards of UW Medicine’s mission and vision.
