Job Description
Baptist Health stands as the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in the region, proudly serving South Florida with an extensive network comprising 12 hospitals, over 29,000 employees, 4,500 physicians, and approximately 200 outpatient centers, urgent care facilities, and physician practices across Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Known for its internationally renowned centers of excellence in cancer, cardiovascular care, orthopedics and sports medicine, and neurosciences, Baptist Health operates under a faith-based mission dedicated to medical excellence. For 26 consecutive years, Baptist Health has been recognized as one of Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For, underscoring its commitment to both high-quality patient care and employee satisfaction. In the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital Rankings, Baptist Health was the most awarded healthcare system in South Florida, earning 63 high-performing honors.
What truly distinguishes Baptist Health is its people. The organization fosters a culture where personal connections extend beyond the workplace, cultivating meaningful relationships with colleagues, patients, and their families. Many team members share firsthand experience with the health challenges faced by patients, fueling a collective commitment to compassion, quality, and empathetic care. This mission-driven, purpose-rooted culture ensures that every employee plays a vital role in making a positive impact in the community — demonstrating that when it comes to caring for people, the entire workforce is fully engaged and dedicated.
Baptist Health is deeply invested in supporting its employees throughout their professional and personal journeys. Emphasizing a "grow our own" philosophy, Baptist Health provides clear career pathways and ongoing support, ensuring long-term career development opportunities for its workforce. Employees benefit from comprehensive health and wellness resources designed to extend beyond traditional benefits. These include a wellness program aimed at helping employees reduce their medical plan deductible, thereby lowering out-of-pocket healthcare costs, as well as tuition reimbursement programs to support continued learning and advancement opportunities.
The role being offered involves preparing, assembling, and delivering patient meals that meet high standards of quality, service, infection control, and food safety. The position includes key responsibilities such as delivering stock supplies to patient floor kitchens, serving guests while maintaining positive customer and guest relations, and replenishing used foods and supplies appropriately. Additional duties encompass sanitation tasks and daily operations within the dish room. The role also requires collecting payments for guest trays, handling transactions for food sales in the cafeteria as a cashier, and setting up and serving meals across various outlets including corporate retail, catering, and the Doctors Dining Room. Decoration of buffet and reception tables as assigned is another vital part of the role.
This position demands a strong connection to the safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction of patients and guests, ensuring high-quality food preparation and service either directly or through support of coworkers. The estimated pay range for this role is $16.00 to $18.38 per hour, depending on experience. As part of a compassionate, mission-driven healthcare system, this position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to patient care quality and satisfaction within a dynamic team environment dedicated to healthcare excellence.
