At UnityPoint Health, the Food Service Worker position plays a critical role in supporting the Food and Nutrition Department by ensuring that patients and other customers receive properly prepared and portioned food in a sanitary and timely manner. This role involves a variety of hands-on activities such as basic food preparation, assembly, portioning, stocking, and distribution of food and supplies. Additionally, the position includes responsibilities for the cleaning and sanitation of utensils, dishes, and equipment, which is essential to maintain compliance with quality food standards and sanitation regulations set forth by regulatory agencies.

The Food Service Worker role varies significantly depending on the area of assignment and specific shift, yet the core duties consistently focus on supporting food service operations and maintaining cleanliness in all aspects of the department. This position requires knowledge of food safety, sanitation protocols, and the proper operation of food service equipment to help deliver high-quality nutrition services that meet and exceed safety standards.

This position is scheduled for the PM shift from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM with a rotating weekly schedule that includes working on different days across weeks, specifically Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in one week (W1), and Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday in the alternate week (W2). The role offers a part-time employment status with approximately 12 hours per week, including weekend work responsibilities.

  • Prepare and assemble food items according to guidelines
