The role of a Food Service Waitstaff is essential to ensuring a positive dining experience within the community’s dining services. This full-time position offers 30 hours per week with a pay rate of $17.00 per hour. Working as a Food Service Waitstaff at ESLC involves interacting with residents, staff, and visitors to deliver food service that is accurate, timely, and courteous. The professional in this role will be responsible for understanding menu items, performing setup and readiness checks, taking and delivering food orders, and maintaining cleanliness of dining areas. This position also requires attendance at staff and resident meetings to gather feedback and contribute to the improvement of services. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum six months food service experience preferred
- knowledge of NYS Department of Health regulations on food operations and sanitation
- ability to stand for prolonged periods and routinely walk in kitchen and dining areas
- ability to occasionally lift loads up to 30 pounds and routinely lift 25 pounds
- ability to sit, talk and hear
- possess vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, color vision and the ability to adjust focus
- willing to follow safety policies and participate in fire drills and emergency procedures
- maintain confidentiality of sensitive organizational and resident information
- capable of working indoors in varying temperature environments
Job Qualifications
- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent with reading, comprehension and writing ability at 12th grade level or higher
- six months' food service experience preferred
- knowledge of NYS DOH regulations on food operations and sanitation
- demonstrated leadership, organizational and communication skills
- ability to represent the Episcopal Church Home and interact effectively with vendors and service contractors
- ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public
Job Duties
- Understand the menu items and preparation methods
- perform pre-service checklist to ensure readiness to open
- take all food orders at table(s) and assure accuracy
- deliver all food items to table
- follow up on all comments, corrections from customers to ensure positive outcomes
- clear all soiled items from table and re-set table
- may deliver room service or patio home meals for residents
- attend resident association and food committee meetings for feedback
- attend all service staff meetings to address problems, concerns or plans
- read all literature, memos concerning changes or other necessary information
- report to Chef Manager or designee
