Job Description
Target Corporation is a renowned American retail giant celebrated for its commitment to providing an exceptional shopping experience that combines value, quality, and style. As a leading general merchandise retailer, Target operates a large number of stores nationwide, offering a broad range of products including clothing, electronics, home goods, and groceries. The company's dedication to innovation, customer satisfaction, and community involvement positions it as a standout employer in the retail industry. Target continually invests in its team members, fostering a supportive and inclusive culture that values diversity and development, making it an attractive workplace for individuals seeking career growth in retail.
The Food & Beverage division at Target plays a crucial role in enhancing the guest shopping experience by ensuring that food products are fresh, available, accurately priced, and expertly presented. As a Food Service Team Leader within this dynamic team, you will be at the forefront of operations, leading and developing hourly team members while managing department sales, inventory, food safety, and promotional activities. This role offers an enriching blend of leadership, operational management, and customer engagement responsibilities, designed to cultivate leadership skills that support career advancement.
The Food Service Team Leader position is hourly paid with a starting pay range from $24.00 to $26.00 per hour, and a full potential pay range extending up to $40.80 per hour. Compensation factors include labor market conditions, individual education, work experience, and certifications. Beyond competitive pay, Target offers comprehensive benefits to eligible team members and their dependents including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, 401(k) retirement plans, employee discounts, and paid time off such as sick leave, national holidays, and vacation. This comprehensive support underscores Target's commitment to the well-being and professional growth of its employees.
In this leadership role, your daily activities will be varied and engaging. You will lead a team to consistently deliver an outstanding, fresh, and guest-first experience, ensuring adherence to Target's guest experience commitments and operational standards. This includes training staff, providing constructive feedback, and holding team members accountable to maintain high-quality service and safety standards in food handling and presentation. You will closely monitor sales trends, manage inventory accuracy, plan workloads strategically, and participate in hiring and onboarding new team members.
The Food Service Team Leader also ensures compliance with safety regulations and Target's operational policies, including food safety manager certification requirements and adherence to Starbucks and Pizza Hut brand standards where applicable. You will champion a culture of inclusion, safety, and ethical conduct, leading by example and fostering an environment where team members feel valued and motivated. Occasionally, this position may require assuming store-level leadership responsibilities during shifts and addressing urgent store and guest needs.
Target values candidates who enjoy helping guests and team members, thrive in fast-paced settings, demonstrate flexibility, and communicate effectively. The role demands a high level of mobility and the ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including refrigeration and freezer areas. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years old, and preferably have some retail experience and a passion for the food service business. Target provides robust training to equip you with all the knowledge and tools needed to succeed as a Food Service Team Leader. Joining Target means becoming part of a company that prioritizes your personal and professional development with great opportunities and comprehensive support.
