The Food & Beverage team at Target plays a vital role in maintaining the quality, freshness, and availability of food products across the store. The Food Service Team Leader position is an essential leadership role within this team, designed for individuals who are passionate about food service and eager to develop their managerial skills in a dynamic retail environment. This role offers a starting pay range of $21.50 to $23.50 per hour, with the full pay range extending up to $36.55 per hour based on experience, education, and certifications.

As a Food Service Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of hourly associates to deliver top-notch guest service and uphold the company’s food safety and quality standards. You will oversee daily operations including inventory management, food safety compliance, merchandising, pricing, and promotional activities. The position requires strong leadership skills to manage hiring, training, coaching, and talent development. You will play a key part in fostering a culture of safety, inclusivity, and operational excellence. Throughout your day, you will analyze sales and team performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement strategies to achieve business goals.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to handle cash register operations accurately
  • Ability to climb ladders if needed
  • Physical ability to lift or move merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
  • Flexible work schedule with reliable and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work in refrigeration and freezer temperatures and exposure to allergens
  • Ability to remain mobile during scheduled shifts
  • Interpret instructions, reports and information accurately

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail experience preferred
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the food service business
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Completion of Food Safety Manager Certification and any applicable Starbucks or Pizza Hut training and certifications

Job Duties

  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target's guest experience commitments and consistent operations
  • Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities and take action to improve
  • Plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement
  • Assess food service areas to ensure food safety and proper inventory levels
  • Follow all food safety requirements and cleaning routines
  • Lead team to uphold and maintain brand standards and production specifications (Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut where applicable)
  • Participate in hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, and developing talent
  • Demonstrate and lead a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up, and Drive-up as needed
  • Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities and address store emergency and compliance needs
