The Food Service Team Leader role at Target is an integral position within the Food & Beverage department. This role entails leading a team responsible for ensuring the freshness, availability, and accurate pricing of food products in-store. As a Food Service Team Leader, you will develop expertise in operational processes, food safety, inventory management, sales trends, and pricing strategies, while building and fostering a culture centered around guest satisfaction and teamwork. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities as you plan daily and weekly workloads, manage team members, and optimize department performance to support business priorities and deliver excellent guest experiences.

In this role, you will be entrusted with leading, training, coaching, and developing hourly team members while holding them accountable to uphold brand standards, food safety protocols, and operational guidelines. You will actively observe team activities, provide timely feedback, and align your staff to meet sales goals and deliver superior guest engagement. Your leadership will also encompass managing food service transitions, promotions, inventory accuracy, and merchandise presentation to increase department efficiency and profitability.

This role pays hourly with a starting pay range of $23.75 to $25.75 and a full pay range of $23.75 to $40.40, depending on factors such as labor markets, education, certifications, and work experience. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail experience preferred but not required
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the food service business
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable and prompt attendance necessary
  • Ability to access all areas of the building
  • Ability to interpret instructions, reports and information
  • Ability to accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders if needed
  • Ability to scan, handle, and move merchandise up to 44 pounds safely and efficiently
  • Ability to work in environments with refrigeration, freezer temperatures and common allergens

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target's guest experience commitments and consistent operations
  • Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments
  • Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align team on the right behaviors and execution
  • Understand sales goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including planning food service transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, promotions and price change workload
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with weekly and monthly business priorities
  • Assess Food Service back of house, production areas, dining spaces and merchandising spaces to ensure food safety and proper inventory levels
  • Walk Food & Beverage standards and Food Service routines daily to assess priorities and review reporting to identify business gaps for follow-up
  • Follow all food safety requirements and cleaning routines including monitoring and recording temperature sensitive food items
  • Validate and follow-up on team members' progress against department checklists and routines
  • Lead team to uphold and maintain Starbucks and Pizza Hut brand standards and production specifications where applicable
  • Ensure accurate in-stocks by placing store-initiated orders according to best practices
  • Follow proper perishable inventory management procedures
  • Make production quantity decisions just in time to ensure freshness, in-stocks, sales and profitability
  • Remain up-to-date on relevant trends and products to educate team members
  • Participate in team hiring and onboarding
  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable
  • Complete all Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut training requirements and certifications
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches
  • Model the execution of physical security processes
  • Support merchandise protection strategies
  • Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty responsibilities
  • Address all store emergency and compliance needs
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up and Drive-up and maintain a compliance culture
  • Perform other duties based on business needs
