With over a thousand stores across the United States, Target prides itself on fostering a welcoming and inclusive culture driven by values of respect, integrity, and collaboration. The company places a strong emphasis on investing in its team members through competitive wages, extensive benefits, and opportunities for growth and development.

The company embraces diversity and strives to create an equitable workplace where all voices are valued. Target's dedication to sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate citizenship makes it a preferred employer for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact both within the company and in the broader community.
The Food & Beverage team at Target plays a critical role in ensuring that guests enjoy fresh, readily available, and well-presented food products. This team is responsible for inventory accuracy, food safety, promotional pricing, and operational efficiency across all food and beverage departments within the store. The team is highly skilled in managing replenishment processes, maintaining product quality, and executing brand standards, especially for branded food services like Starbucks and Pizza Hut found in select locations.
The Food Service Team Leader position within Target's Food & Beverage segment is designed for individuals who thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced retail environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about guest service and food safety, with a keen interest in operational excellence and team leadership. The Food Service Team Leader is accountable for guiding hourly team members to consistently deliver Target's guest commitments, ensuring fresh product availability, and managing food safety protocols. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop retail leadership skills through hands-on experience in managing food service operations, sales performance, staff development, and compliance with health and safety standards.
The starting pay rate for the Food Service Team Leader ranges from $20.25 to $22.25 per hour, with the full pay range extending up to $34.45 per hour depending on experience, certifications, and labor market factors. Target also provides comprehensive benefits to eligible team members, including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, along with 401(k) plans, employee discounts, paid sick leave, paid national holidays, paid vacation, and numerous other programs to support financial, educational, and well-being goals.
Typical responsibilities of the Food Service Team Leader encompass managing daily workload plans that support business priorities, leading and developing hourly team members through coaching and training, ensuring food safety and quality standards are met, maintaining inventory accuracy, and executing promotional and pricing strategies. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and foster an inclusive, ethical, and safe work environment.
This role is suited for individuals who are physically capable of performing tasks like lifting merchandise up to 44 pounds, working in various temperature conditions including refrigeration and freezer environments, and adapting to flexible, variable schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times. Candidates should be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills along with a genuine interest in food service operations. Target provides extensive training to support team members in growing within their roles and advancing their careers at the company. Through this position, team members gain valuable experience that can lead to further leadership opportunities within Target or the wider retail industry.
