Job Description
Core-Mark is a leading provider of fresh and broadline solutions for the convenience retail industry across North America. With a reputation for empowering customers, employees, and communities alike, Core-Mark has grown to become the largest and most comprehensive marketer of consumer goods to convenience operators throughout the United States and Canada. The company offers a full range of products, programs, and solutions designed to support the convenience retail channel, focusing heavily on quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Core-Mark is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive work environment that values rewards, recognition, and respect for all employees. Their dedication to employee well-being is reflected in their comprehensive benefits package, including day one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401k employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among other incentives.
The Food Service Support Representative role at Core-Mark is a critical position within the company's foodservice division, which is a vital component of the overall product and service offerings to the convenience retail channel. This position is ideal for an individual passionate about foodservice and keen to play a strategic role in developing and promoting foodservice initiatives. The representative works closely with local sales teams and customers to educate and advise on entering or enhancing foodservice programs. The position requires a strong knowledge of foodservice trends, effective communication and leadership skills, and the ability to maintain positive relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal partners.
This role is not typical desk work; it requires daily travel within the assigned territory of North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota, including occasional overnight stays to support key business needs. Core-Mark provides a company vehicle and a monthly cell phone stipend to support the representative's work while on the road. Scheduled Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm with some flexibility, this role demands a person who is adaptable and able to manage time effectively while serving multiple stakeholders.
The Food Service Support Representative acts as a foodservice ambassador for Core-Mark, promoting private brand sales and marketing efforts alongside foodservice promotions. This person will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of new and existing food programs, including training demonstrations, menu and recipe development, processing necessary documentation, and ensuring equipment needs are met. Additionally, the role involves in-field training and consultation with strategic accounts, recommending growth strategies related to new products, preparation methods, merchandising, and marketing to ensure profitability for all parties involved.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in the foodservice industry, preferably through food brokerage, food equipment sales, or a chef background, coupled with at least two years of customer-facing sales experience and project management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word is essential. The role requires a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record due to the daily travel involved. This is a unique opportunity to join an industry leader that values growth, safety, and inclusivity, and to contribute significantly to the success of Core-Mark’s foodservice initiatives.
