Cleveland Metroparks is a dynamic park district renowned for providing exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities across Northeast Ohio. Committed to preserving the natural environment while promoting community engagement, Cleveland Metroparks offers a diverse range of amenities including trails, nature centers, golf courses, and arts and cultural events. The organization is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors by maintaining beautiful, accessible parks and facilities that cater to all ages and interests. It operates in a manner that balances environmental stewardship with recreational development, ensuring sustainable enjoyment of the region's natural resources for generations to come.
The Food Service Supervisor role at Cleveland Metroparks is a pivotal position within the park district's food services and concessions operations. This role is instrumental in leading the development, management, and evaluation of food service activities and concession stands spread across the park system. The position offers an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about hospitality, recreation, and public service to contribute to the district's mission by delivering consistently high-quality food and customer experiences to park guests.
Reporting primarily to The Chalet in Strongsville during the fall and winter months and to various concession locations such as Ledge Pool in Hinckley during spring and summer, the Food Service Supervisor plays a versatile role throughout the year. Responsibilities include managing seasonal staff, overseeing food preparation and service, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and supporting promotional programming and permit reviews to enhance the concession offerings. The Supervisor also serves as acting manager in their absence, highlighting the leadership responsibility entrusted to this position.
This employment opportunity allows for hands-on involvement in multiple aspects of food service management including menu planning, cost control, vendor coordination, payroll processing, and customer satisfaction initiatives. The role calls for expertise in operational efficiency and safety oversight, ensuring that both staff and visitors experience a safe, enjoyable environment. The Food Service Supervisor is not only a manager but also an active participant who may occasionally provide direct food service where tips are applicable, emphasizing a commitment to frontline customer engagement.
Candidates will find the position appealing due to its seasonal variety, inclusive work environment, and community-centric focus. The role requires adaptability to various outdoor settings and weather conditions, reflecting the seasonal nature of park operations. Working days span a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays to meet the demands of park programming and visitor needs.
