The Food Service Supervisor / Deli Lead at Global Partners plays a vital role in the deli and food service operations of the company’s fresh food departments. This position involves directing and supervising all activities within the deli and food service department to meet merchandising, sales, and guest service goals established for the location. The supervisor is responsible for managing department personnel, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and scheduling team members to ensure smooth daily operations. The role also requires close communication with store management and other department supervisors to align with overarching store objectives.

Beyond personnel management, the Food Service Supervisor oversees food preparation, presentation, and merchandising of deli items such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees, fried foods, pizzas, prepared salads, soups, sandwiches, roller grill items, hot and cold beverages, and snacks. The supervisor must enforce strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring compliance with all county, city, and company policies. In addition, this role requires managing inventory and ordering supplies to maintain adequate stock levels and merchandising standards. Attention to detail is important when auditing invoices, receiving merchandise, pricing and labeling items, and rotating products to maintain quality and minimize shrink.

Customer engagement is another key aspect; the supervisor should provide product information, offer selling suggestions, engage in active sampling, and ensure guests receive timely and satisfactory service. The position involves operating cash registers, processing transactions, and handling refunds while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment. Physical demands include frequent lifting, working in refrigerated and freezer areas, standing for extended periods, and handling kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, burners, ovens, fryers, and rotisseries.

The role offers a pay range of $17.66 to $20.87 per hour, with actual salary depending on experience, skills, and location. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years old
  • Minimum 2 years experience in fresh food environment preferably managerial
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • Ability to work weekend holiday and evening shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work in walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Proficient manual dexterity for equipment use
  • Serv-safe certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • Flexibility to work weekend holiday and/or evening shifts and assist other locations as needed
  • 2 years prior experience in a fresh food environment preferably in managerial role
  • Must have reliable transportation and an active driver's license
  • Serv-safe certification preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Work in walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Stand for long periods bend and twist below waist and frequently lift and/or maneuver merchandise and supplies as well as reach above shoulder height
  • Dexterity with hands and fingers to use equipment including knives slicers burners ovens fryers and rotisseries
  • Vocational or Technical Education Diploma or Equivalent

Job Duties

  • Direct department personnel meeting department's goals and objectives communicating directly with store management and department supervisors
  • Select on-board and coach all new team members
  • Schedule all team members
  • Offer product information provide selling suggestions and active sampling and always give a genuine thank you
  • Take guest orders ensure orders are completed on time and to guest's satisfaction
  • Ensure department personnel follow all county city and company food safety and sanitation guidelines and policies
  • Order products and supplies necessary to maintain adequate stock levels and merchandising standards
  • Oversee preparation and serving/merchandising of deli/food service items including breakfast lunch and dinner entrees fried foods pizzas prepared salads soups sandwiches roller grill items hot and cold beverages and snacks
  • Display deli and food service items following company merchandising guidelines
  • Follow product recipes without deviation
  • Rotate deli/food service items for sale ensuring quality safety and shrink control
  • Receive merchandise audit invoices break down orders position products in storage or refrigerated walk-ins
  • Periodically count product for inventory purposes
  • Complete all paperwork timely and accurately
  • Process cash register transactions giving back change and refunds
  • Use scale printer machine ensuring weights and pricing are correct
  • Monitor product pricing signage and placement including shelf tags and signs
  • Keep clean neat and orderly sales counters food prep areas warehousing and walk-in coolers/freezers
  • Ensure department personnel use proper safety equipment and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Work with deli ingredients including meat vegetables fruits spices nuts flavorings sauces and oils
