The Food Service Supervisor/Deli Lead role at Global Partners plays a vital part in maintaining and elevating the fresh food service operations within their retail locations. This position involves directing and supervising all activities in the deli and food service department with the goal of achieving merchandising, sales, and guest service objectives. In this role, the Food Service Supervisor/Deli Lead is responsible for onboarding, training, and coaching new team members, managing scheduling, providing excellent guest service through product knowledge and engagement, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation policies established by local health agencies and company guidelines. This position requires overseeing the preparation and presentation of a diverse array of deli and fresh food items including breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees, fried foods, pizzas, prepared salads, soups, sandwiches, roller grill items, and beverage options. Attention to detail is critical for tasks such as rotating products to maintain freshness, inventory management, proper label and pricing placement, and keeping all sales and food preparation areas orderly and clean.

The role also demands operational duties such as receiving and auditing merchandise and supplies, processing cash register transactions with accuracy, and maintaining equipment functionality including slicers, ovens, and fryers. With an emphasis on leadership, this position ensures that all department personnel use proper safety equipment and follow protocols designed to protect both employees and guests. It also requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift moderately heavy items, work in refrigerated environments, and perform activities involving bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods. A Serv-Safe certification is preferred, reflecting the importance of food safety expertise.

Job Requirements

  • 2 years prior experience in a fresh foods environment preferably in managerial role
  • Must have reliable transportation and an active driver's license
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Work in walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Stand for long periods bend and twist below waist frequently lift and maneuver merchandise and supplies as well as reaching above shoulder height
  • Be dexterous enough with hands and fingers so as to be able to use necessary equipment including knives slicers burners ovens fryers and rotisseries
  • Vocational or technical education high school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Direct department personnel meeting department's goals and objectives communicating directly with store management and department supervisors
  • Selecting on-boarding and coaching all new team members
  • Scheduling all team members
  • Offer product information provide selling suggestions and active sampling with a genuine thank you
  • Take guest orders ensure orders are completed on time and to the guest's satisfaction
  • Ensure department personnel follow all county city and company food safety and sanitation guidelines and policies
  • Order the products and supplies necessary to maintain adequate stock levels and keep merchandising levels at prescribed standards
  • Oversee preparation serving and merchandising of deli food service items including breakfast lunch dinner entrees fried foods pizzas prepared salads soups sandwiches roller grill items hot and cold beverages and snack items
  • Display deli and food service items following department merchandising guidelines
  • Follow product recipes without deviation
  • Attentively rotate deli food service items ensuring quality safety and product shrink control
  • Receive merchandise for sale and supplies auditing invoices breaking down orders positioning products in storage or refrigerated walk-in coolers freezers
  • Periodically count product for inventory purposes
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
  • Process cash register transactions giving back change and refunds
  • Use scale printer machine ensuring weights and pricing are correct
  • Monitor product pricing signage placement use of shelf tags and signage
  • Keep clean neat and orderly sales counters food prep areas warehouse shelving walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Ensure all department personnel use proper safety equipment and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Work with deli ingredients including various meat items vegetables fruits spices nuts flavorings sauces and oils
