This full-time Food Service Supervisor position is based at Brown Health - RI Hospital in Providence, RI. The role operates Wednesday through Sunday, from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., providing a blend of leadership, coordination, and hands-on supervision within a fast-paced healthcare food service environment. As a Food Service Supervisor, you will work alongside the Food Service Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations, manage staff, maintain food quality and safety standards, and ensure efficient service delivery. You will be instrumental in scheduling, mentoring, training, inventory management, and upholding health and safety compliance. Key responsibilities include producing and maintaining work schedules, food production oversight, quality and safety compliance, inventory control, supervising and evaluating staff performance, and maintaining a sanitary and hazard-free work environment. You will support staff development through training and mentoring, ensure all food safety and temperature logs are accurately completed, coordinate daily catering events, and foster good public relations. Your proactive approach and ability to multitask will be essential in fulfilling both routine tasks and addressing challenges as they arise. This role also requires occasional participation in night and weekend catered events and the capacity to fill in for absent employees as needed. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary leadership experience in a high-volume kitchen
  • Previous team management experience
  • Ability to work evening shifts Wednesday through Sunday
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively under pressure
  • Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Physical capability to stand for long periods and perform kitchen duties
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and scheduling

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary leadership experience in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Healthcare food service experience preferred
  • Proven experience managing and leading teams of 10-15 employees
  • Strong leadership skills to independently oversee kitchen operations
  • Experience with managerial and administrative responsibilities including scheduling and documentation
  • Ability to complete compliance and regulatory requirements accurately and timely
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to make sound operational decisions and maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and service with minimal supervision

Job Duties
