Job Description

Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is a nationally recognized organization dedicated to providing employment opportunities for individuals with significant disabilities, including wounded veterans. Established in 1986, GCE has built a strong reputation as one of the country's largest private employers of persons with disabilities. The company's mission is to connect skilled workers to meaningful, fulfilling careers in various fields ranging from custodial services to facilities maintenance, food services, and other business lines. GCE works closely with clients in the U.S. military, commercial sectors, community partners, and federal, state, and local governments to foster inclusive employment environments and empower individuals to succeed professionally.

GCE's commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace is reflected in its focus on employing veterans and persons with disabilities, making it a leader in workforce diversity and inclusion. The organization not only provides job opportunities but also emphasizes training, personal growth, and career development tailored to the unique needs of its employees. The company operates with a core value of quality customer service, ensuring that all team members deliver dependable and satisfactory service to meet client and customer expectations consistently.

The Supervisor position at GCE is a key leadership role within the Food Service (FS) division, responsible for managing daily food service operations. This role requires a dedicated professional who is committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer satisfaction. The supervisor will oversee the assigned area, ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently and effectively by the team. An essential component of the job is upholding the Tri-Service Standards related to sanitation and medical requirements, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols.

The supervisory role is ideal for someone with prior experience in food services and team leadership. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong management, communication, and interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication. Being adept in basic computer skills such as Microsoft Excel and Word is necessary to complete required documentation and communicate effectively with team members and management. The ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English fluently is also required.

Flexibility in scheduling is important as the supervisor must rotate workweek hours to ensure proper observation and oversight across all shifts weekly. This role involves interaction with both customers and team members, requiring a professional and approachable demeanor. Physical requirements include regular bending, crouching, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. The supervisor must be prepared to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may sometimes need to travel between locations.

GCE values a safe and drug-free workplace and requires candidates to pass background screenings and drug testing. The organization is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages individuals with disabilities and veterans to apply.
