This particular opportunity is for the position of Food Service Supervisor located inside the Onondaga County Justice Center, a correctional facility. The Food Service Supervisor plays a critical role in managing the daily food service operations within the jail setting, overseeing both inmate labor and team members to ensure the efficient preparation and delivery of meals. This role demands a hands-on leader who is passionate about food and service, with a keen understanding of food safety regulations and the flexibility to adapt to the dynamic environment of a correctional kitchen. prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred

Job Duties

Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and service
prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in the preparation of food according to menu plans and recipes
ensure proper and sanitary food storage
serve food according to planned meal schedules and policies
utilize kitchen utensils and equipment safely and effectively
follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage
train other food service workers
maintain cleanliness of work areas and kitchen equipment
adhere to facility uniform policy
manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
ensure kitchen readiness for food prep and service including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
review proper portions and utensils for service
promote a healthy and safe work environment
perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
perform other related duties as assigned
