Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • must be at least 21 years of age
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking
  • dependable and flexible
  • prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and service
  • prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in the preparation of food according to menu plans and recipes
  • ensure proper and sanitary food storage
  • serve food according to planned meal schedules and policies
  • utilize kitchen utensils and equipment safely and effectively
  • follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • train other food service workers
  • maintain cleanliness of work areas and kitchen equipment
  • adhere to facility uniform policy
  • manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
  • ensure kitchen readiness for food prep and service including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • review proper portions and utensils for service
  • promote a healthy and safe work environment
  • perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • perform other related duties as assigned
