Job Description
Lakeland Christian School is a respected educational institution committed to fostering academic excellence, spiritual growth, and holistic development in young learners. Known for its nurturing environment, the school integrates faith-based principles with high-quality education to shape well-rounded individuals. Serving the community with dedication, Lakeland Christian School offers a variety of programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of its student body and uphold its mission of developing students who are prepared for both academic and life challenges.
As part of its commitment to maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere, Lakeland Christian School is seeking a dedicated and responsible Food Service Staff member specializing in sandwich and cold preparation, as well as classic meal service. This position is integral to the daily operations of the school's cafeteria, providing nutritious and appealing meal options to students and staff alike. The role is classified as a non-exempt, ten-month staff position with a consistent schedule from Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:15 pm. Reporting directly to the Food Service Manager, this role does not include supervisory responsibilities but plays a crucial part in ensuring that all food service standards and hygiene protocols are met or exceeded.
The Food Service Sandwich and Cold Prep / Classic Meal Server is responsible for preparing and assembling sandwiches, bagged lunch meals, and cut fruit, as well as assisting with salad preparation using commercial cooking practices. Attention to standardized recipes and volume preparation ensures consistency and quality in every meal served. Maintaining a clean and sanitary work station is a key component of the role, promoting food safety and compliance with health regulations. Additionally, the position involves serving classic meal lunches according to standard portion sizes and assisting with all kitchen and cafeteria clean-up duties, contributing to the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the food service area.
Ideal candidates for this position will be born-again believers who actively participate in a local evangelical church, demonstrating a testimony above reproach in alignment with the school’s Statement of Faith. Educationally, a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of commercial volume-based cooking, food preparation, sanitation procedures, and point-of-sale (POS) systems is essential. Candidates must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, be reliable, work well within a team, and uphold the school’s policies and professional standards. Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and staff are also important.
The successful applicant will be committed to maintaining a positive work atmosphere, following routine verbal and written instructions accurately, and showing a willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks or procedures. Physical demands include the ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds, with some exposure to varying temperatures and kitchen-related hazards. This role is essential to ensuring that all students and staff receive timely, high-quality meals in a safe and welcoming environment, making it a vital part of Lakeland Christian School’s service to its educational community.
