The Food Service Staff position at Mt. Bachelor is a dynamic role ideal for individuals who thrive in active, fast-paced environments and enjoy interacting with people. Serving at various cafeterias within the resort lodges, the Food Service Staff is essential in maintaining high standards of guest service and operational efficiency. The role encompasses cashiering, bussing, order expediting, and ensuring cleanliness in and around guest areas. Candidates for this position should possess a positive and proactive attitude, embodying Mt. Bachelor’s core values while providing friendly and engaging customer interactions. This job often requires multitasking, problem-solving, and flexibility to adapt to varying activity levels throughout the day.
In addition to front-of-house responsibilities, the Food Service Staff is encouraged to assist in secondary functions such as dishwashing, snow removal, and basic food preparation and delivery, contributing to the success and smooth running of the resort’s food service departments. Employees are expected to maintain a safe and sanitized workspace, follow policies outlined in the Employee Handbook, and adhere to accurate timekeeping protocols.
This role requires familiarity with computer-based POS systems, excellent communication and people skills, and the physical capability to handle constant walking, lifting, and carrying throughout shifts. Candidates must hold an Oregon Food Handler’s Card and OLCC permit. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, is essential due to the seasonal and 24/7 nature of resort operations.
Starting at $16.00 per hour, this position welcomes individuals aged 15 and older who meet the education requirement of a high school diploma or GED. Previous serving experience, especially in high-volume environments, is highly preferred. Mt. Job Duties
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, greeting and acknowledging every guest, answering commonly asked questions, and moving the guest through the service process promptly
- be familiar with all products, up-sell items, and give recommendations according to current promotions
- accurately prepare all orders according to the ticket
- perform opening and closing duties as assigned by Leads, Supervisors, and/or Managers
- accurately ring in all items and adhere to department standards and accounting practices
- rotate and keep products stocked throughout the day
- clean and sanitize service stations and keep them in an orderly manner throughout the shift
- advise management when certain products are running low and need to be reordered
- have working knowledge of computers and the POS system
- reset tables according to the specifications of the restaurant
- remove plates and silverware when guests have finished
- sort dishes and prep for the dishwasher
- refill water stations and help keep guest areas properly stocked
- follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures
- complete any reasonable task assigned by Leads, Supervisors, and/or Managers
- observe mountain-wide policies found in the Employee Handbook
- be accountable for accurate time keeping and responsible for clocking in and out with the employee pass
